God has called us to give hope, stability“ and dignity to those persecuted. “
Pakistan is the 2nd largest Islamic country in the World which has the population of almost 230 million people and Christianity is the largest minority community in Pakistan about two percent which makes almost 4 million. It is a beautiful country with 4 provinces of Punjab, Sindh, KPK and Balochistan.
Most of Christians have faced persecution in Pakistan since 1947. Most cases are on record where Christians face attacks on their churches, homes live stocks, properties and lives. Recently In a single day on 16 August 2023, around 28 churches, Homes and thousands of thousand bibles in Jaranwala were ransacked. The mob rampaged through the prominent Christian areas of the city to accomplish its dastardly mission, which had begun on the pretext of the Quran being defiled by two Christian brothers. The vigilante mob had gathered strength from the neighborhood by exploiting their religious emotions that demanded that an act of blasphemy be responded to with equal force. According to the reports, an announcement was made through a mosque calling upon the faithful to take revenge not from the two brothers who were blamed for desecrating the Quran, but from the entire community—from its children, its women, and its elders. In no time, the city was engulfed in hatred emanating from a story that had neither been investigated nor reported to the police. Unfortunately, by the time the police took control of the situation, the damage had been done. If reports from the crime scene are to be believed. The Jaranwala incident is part of a series of violent acts perpetrated on minorities in the name of religion. But God equipped and empowered Christians to face persecution. In last incident we visited persecuted Christian and burnt churches our heart was broke to see all views and suddenly came in mind 1st and 2nd century when Christians go through Romans persecution. We met believers and gave glory to God when they said they just lost their homes churches but they were ready to die for Christ. We support them financially to build their homes for food and for their Children education. They still need support because they lost whatever they had. GMMP praying to God makes it possible to reach persecuted Christians.
